Real Madrid 2-1 Valencia: Marcelo The Unlikely Hero After Ronaldo Misses Penalty

Marcelo proved an unlikely hero as Real Madrid snatched a wonderful and dramatic 2-1 win over Valencia at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

The full-back fired home with four minutes of normal time to spare after Dani Parejo had cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo's 20th LaLiga goal of the season. Also, Ronaldo saw a spot-kick saved by Diego Alves for the third time in four attempts

The result puts Madrid back to the top of the table, three points above champions Barcelona ahead of their derby match with Espanyol later on Saturday.

Turkish Authorities Block Wikipedia Without Giving Reason

Turkey has blocked all access inside the country to the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia. Officials said "an administrative measure" had been taken, but gave no reason why.

Turkish media said authorities had asked Wikipedia to remove content by writers "supporting terror". Turkey has temporarily blocked social media sites including Facebook and Twitter in the past, usually following protests or terror attacks.

The Turkey Blocks monitoring group said Wikipedia was unreachable from 08:00 (05:00 GMT). People in Istanbul were unable to access any pages without using a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Google and Facebook Scammed Out Of $100M

Google and Facebook Scammed Out Of $100M but say that money was recovered:

Google and Facebook were scammed out of a total of $100M by a crook sending fake invoices purporting to be from Taiwanese server supplier Quanta Computer, reports Fortune. The scam was allegedly carried out by a Lithuanian man, Evaldas Rimasauskas.

Google said that all of its money has been recovered, while Facebook said this was true of ‘the bulk’ of its funds, but questions are still being asked of both organisations …

While $100M is not a large sum in the context of the balance sheets of either company, and the bulk of the money was in any case recovered, former Securities & Exchange Commission head Mary Jo White says that this doesn't necessarily eliminate the need to report the incident.

U.S. Announces Additional $30m Aid For North East

The US Embassy said in statement on Friday that the additional funding would bring the total U.S. humanitarian contribution in Nigeria to more than $298m since October 2015.

The funding, according to it, is in response to dire humanitarian crisis in the North East as a result of years of brutality by Boko Haram and other militant groups.

"This new funding will support the UN World Food Programme in Nigeria, which is providing critical food assistance, nutrition support, and vouchers that can be used to buy food where local markets are functional," the statement read in part.

Manchester United Tribute To Nigerian Fans Killed In Calabar

Manchester United has revealed plans to honour Nigerian football fans who died last week following an accident in the south-eastern city of Calabar.

The tragedy, which claimed the lives of at least seven people, happened when an electric cable fell on fans watching a Manchester United match on TV.

The English club tweeted that its players will wear black armbands on Sunday in memory of the victims.

'I have no crystal ball' - Conte Can't Guarantee Hazard Stay

Antonio Conte insists Eden Hazard is not looking to leave Chelsea, but admits he cannot make any guarantee with Real Madrid interested in a big money move for him.

Chelsea prepare for a difficult test away to Everton this weekend with Tottenham only four points behind in second. Conte says Hazard is likely to stay but couldn't officially rule out a summer departure from Stamford Bridge.

“I think that it's impossible for me to take this responsibility, but not only for Eden but for every single player," Conte told reporters at a news conference. "In this situation, it's the club who have the final decision.

"I can say my opinion about this situation, but I repeat: the club has the final word about this situation. I think that everything is possible, everything is possible in football. But not only for Eden, but for every single player."

Buhari Should Reveal His Health Status Immediately-Wole Soyinka

"Why is the president hiding his state of health? He's supposed to understand he's public property, me I'm still private property, that's why I'm not in Aso Rock," said Mr. Soyinka, a Nigerian Nobel laureate for literature.

Why Oba Of Lagos 'Snubbing' Ooni Of Ife Shocked Nigeria

At a recent public event a Yoruba leader, known as the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu ,74, refused to properly greet the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi 42.

Though there are various interpretations by historians and scholars on the origins of Yoruba people, the Ooni of Ife is widely acknowledged as the overall leader and is known as the "king of kings".

The Oba - of which there are up to 50 in Lagos alone - is seen to be a lesser traditional ruler, even though he is older. There is speculation it could relate to a spat that goes back over a century when a long rivalry existed between the two thrones even before the colonial era.

Pogba, James and Balotelli Not Worth The Money Or Hype, Says Antonio Cassano

Paul Pogba, James Rodriguez and Mario Balotelli all benefit from having "a very good agent", according to Antonio Cassano, who says the three players are overrated.

The Manchester United, Real Madrid and Nice stars are all managed by Mino Raiola.

Cassano told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Three overrated players? Pogba, James Rodriguez and Balotelli."

“Is Pogba really worth €120m? Not for me, no. Rodriguez €80m? No. If he’s worth that, how much would [Andres] Iniesta have been worth at his age?

“As for Balotelli, I wish the best for Mario and he’s doing pretty well in France but both he and Pogba have had great fortune in life: they’re managed by a very good agent, Mino Raiola."

Creator of Microsoft’s Infamous ‘Clippy’ Tool Talks Designing The Character On A Mac & More

One of the most iconic pieces of software design ever is the Clippy (or Clippit) assistant that was baked into Microsoft Office up until 2007. Now, the original illustrator of Clippy, Kevan Atteberry, has sat down with Motherboard for a full interview.

Microsoft and the designers worked with social psychologists from Stanford to make a final decision, which is interesting considering most people ended up hating Clippy:

He said, "They fucking hate him! And you know what, that’s fine." Perhaps most notably, however, Atteberry himself designed Clippy but then never had to see the character again. As it turns out, Clippy was designed on a Mac and Atteberry is a Mac user

Tranexamic Acid Can Reduce Maternal Deaths 'By A Third'

Heavy bleeding after giving birth is the leading cause of maternal deaths worldwide, killing more than 100,000 women each year. Around six percent of women suffer from postpartum hemorrhaging (PPH) - uncontrollable bleeding after giving birth.

A trial involving 20,000 women in 193 hospitals across 21 countries - mainly in Africa and Asia - found that a widely available drug called tranexamic acid (TXA) could help save lives. Within three hours of birth, women diagnosed with PPH were either given TXA or a placebo intravenously, and TXA won.

"We now have important evidence that the early use of tranexamic acid can save women's lives and ensure more children grow up with a mother," said Haleema Shakur of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, England

Kante And Griezmann Nominated For Top French Award, But No Place For Paul Pogba

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante is in the running to add the best French player abroad award to his PFA Player of the Year prize.

Kante has been named on a four-man shortlist for the Trophees UNFP du football prize alongside Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Borussia Dortmund teenager Ousmane Dembele.

Paul Pogba and Dimitri Payet have dropped out of reckoning this year, with Payet now back at Marseille after forcing through a transfer from West Ham and Pogba yet to justify the record-breaking £89 million fee which took him from Juventus to Manchester United.

President Buhari: Police Hunt For Cop Who Vowed To Kill 200

The Nigeria Police Force says it has launched a manhunt for Inusa Saidu Biu, a riot policeman, who threatened to kill 200 persons if ailing President Muhammadu dies.

If truly he is still serving in the Nigeria Police Force, I think he needs to be picked up and prosecuted in order to serve as a deterrent to his likes who portray the force in bad light with their bad influence on the general public," a Facebook user, Olabisi Adeniyi, wrote.

"The dangerous thing is that Inusa Biu has made up his mind to bring down 200 persons for no just cause, hence, it is a thing of utmost concern to all citizens since we don't know the day or hour that the angel of death will visit Buhari".

Israeli Missiles Hit Military Site Near Damascus Airport, Syria

An Israeli missile strike has caused a large explosion and fire at a military site near Damascus international airport. A fuel tank and warehouses were damaged. But Syrian rebel sources said an arms depot run by Lebanon's Hezbollah movement, which is fighting in Syria as an ally of the government, was hit.

Israel said the explosion was "consistent" with its policy to prevent Iran smuggling weapons to Hezbollah. But it stopped short of confirming it was responsible.

Israel regards Hezbollah, and its key backer Iran, as its biggest threat. It went to war with Hezbollah in 2006 and the group has grown considerably more powerful since then.

Bartomeu To Go On Trial For Fraud Over Barcelona's Neymar Sign As Latest Appeal Rejected

Josep Maria Bartomeu will go on trial for fraud and corruption over Barcelona's signing of Neymar from Santos after his latest appeal was rejected.

The National Court confirmed the former vice-president's case will go ahead, ruling that his position gave him the same responsibilities as then-president Sandro Rosell.

The case has been brought forward from Brazilian supermarket chain DIS, who owned 40 per cent of the rights to Neymar prior to his move to Barca in 2013.

Barcelona's original claim over the transfer fee paid for Neymar has long been a complicated subject, with the club having lied about how much he cost.

Wenger 'Sure' Arsenal Won't Sell Alexis Sanchez to Premier League Rival

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is "sure" Arsenal will not sell Alexis Sanchez to a Premier League rival, emulating Robin van Persie's switch to Manchester United in 2012.
The Chilean forward continues to be heavily linked with a summer transfer away from Emirates Stadium as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his current contract.
Wenger, though, is adamant that 28-year-old will be made to stay put.
He told reporters: “I don’t think that you would sell him to any Premier League club, that is for sure."
“I let Van Persie go in the last year of his contract because Van Persie was 29, going on 30 and he was signing a long-term contract. That is not the case with Alexis. I personally think he will sign and stay here.

iPhone 8 Dummy Model Images Leaked

The photos — that were leaked by Benjamin Geskin on Twitter, who claims to have a source with connections to Apple supplier Foxconn — suggest that a big update to the iPhone 7 could be on the way. However, it's worth stressing that there's no way of knowing for certain whether the images of Apple's new flagship phone are legitimate.

They show multiple iPhone devices with an edge-to-edge glass screen and no obviously identifiable home button. They also appear to have a polished stainless steel chassis that makes it look similar in some respects to the original iPhone, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.

Several of the photos show a device with a dual-camera system on the back that sits in its own designated rectangle.

The Galaxy S8 Blew Up Samsung's Record for Pre-orders

Pre-orders for the S8 and S8+ were up by 30 percent from last year's number of reservations for the S7 and S7 Edge, according to a statement Samsung provided us via email. While concrete sales numbers weren't disclosed, the company said the S8 had the most successful pre-sale period for a smartphone in Samsung's history.

The record number of pre-orders comes as a vote of confidence in Samsung as it continues to face scrutiny after the failure of the Galaxy Note 7 — a legacy that, while not mentioned explicitly, appears to have had a major influence on the company's messaging about the S8's successful launch.

Tim Baxter, the company's American president and CEO, struck a cautiously optimistic, even conciliatory tone in the statement.

Zoe Saldana Revealed Avengers 4 Title?

Watch Twitter Video: here
In a recent interview, Saldana revealed that the Guardians of the Galaxy cast just finished filming the third Avengers film, Infinity War, and that they'll have to come back to work on the fourth Avengers film later this year.

"I think that the Guardians just shot their part when it comes to Infinity War' the first part," said Saldana. "And we all have to go back for Gauntlet later this year."

It seems Avengers 4 is reportedly called Infinity Gauntlet. If true, this would be the reverse of comic book titles. Marvel released Infinity Gauntlet first in 1991 and followed it up with 1992's Infinity War. We have until the film releases on May 3, 2019 to find out.

Hazard: I'm Not Right for Chelsea Captaincy

Eden Hazard says he does not see himself as a suitable candidate to replace John Terry as the Premier League leaders' captain next season.

John Terry will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, meaning Antonio Conte will have to name a new first-choice skipper.

Gary Cahill has worn the armband in Terry's absence this season and appears to be the leading candidate to succeed his fellow centre-back in 2017-18.

But Hazard's name has also been mentioned due to his role as Belgium captain.

"I think we have some players who can be more than a captain in this team," Hazard told Sky Sports.

"When I talk to you at the national team, I do not know if I am a good captain, but I am a captain on the pitch."

US astronaut Peggy Whitson Breaks American Spaceflight Record

U.S. astronaut Peggy Whitson is smashing records left and right.

Whitson, 57, broke the record for the most cumulative time in space by an American astronaut early Monday, streaking past the 534-day record held by Jeff Williams. The 879-day global record, held by Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka, still stands.

By the time she returns to Earth in September, Whitson will have spent 666 days in floating above the planet. She hopes she won't hold the title for long.

Malaria: Kenya, Ghana and Malawi Get First Vaccine

The world's first vaccine against malaria will be introduced in three countries - Ghana, Kenya and Malawi - starting in 2018. The RTS,S vaccine trains the immune system to attack the malaria parasite, which is spread by mosquito bites.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said the jab had the potential to save tens of thousands of lives. But it is not yet clear if it will be feasible to use in the poorest parts of the world.

The vaccine needs to be given four times - once a month for three months and then a fourth dose 18 months later.

FG Approves Whistle-blowing Policy On Arms

Whistle-blowing in Nigeria is now being extended beyond financial crimes, to illegal ownership of small arms and light weapons.

The Presidency has started drawing up the rules of a whistle-blower mechanism to throw a spotlight on the regime of gun ownership and control in the country.

The move was made to disarm communities, especially those with an inclination to violence.

Hazard Second Only To Barca Star Messi, Says Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas has urged Chelsea colleague Eden Hazard to be more selfish and close the gap on the world's best player, Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Fabregas certainly has him in that bracket, with a man who has played alongside some of the finest talent on the planet of the opinion that the 26-year-old forward can get even better.

“Ability wise, there is only one player above Eden, and we all know who that is: Messi. Eden is up there with the best,” Fabregas said after witnessing Wembley heroics.

“But I’ve told him many times, he needs to be selfish and have that killer instinct – then he will be whatever he wants to be.

Fresh Anxiety In Aso Rock Over Buhari’s Health

The 74-year-old Nigerian leader was only seen in public once throughout last week, when he joined other Muslim faithful for a Juma'at service on Friday at a mosque located near his office inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
One of our correspondents reported that, although some government officials were reported to have met with Buhari in his office during the week, to update him of developments in their ministries, no photographs or video recordings of such encounters were made available by the Presidency, which was contrary to the usual practice.
Speaking on the development, a former Joint House Leader of the defunct Peoples Redemption Party and Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, as well as a member of the Defence Committee in the Second Republic, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, told SUNDAY PUNCH that there was every reason for Nigerians to be worried about the president's health, especially because he has hardly been seen in public.

North Korea: 'US Has Now Gone Seriously Mad'

North Korea reiterated its vow to launch "full-out war" with nuclear weapons on Saturday as an American naval strike carrier was set to arrive off the tense Korean peninsula in a matter of days.
Tensions between the United States and the North have soared in recent weeks as a series of North Korean missile tests have wrought ever-more bellicose warnings from President Donald Trump's administration about curtailing its nuclear weapons programme.
But the US Navy - which had earlier said the aircraft carrier would sail north from waters off Singapore as a "prudent measure" to deter North Korea, admitted on Tuesday the ships were in fact sent away from Singapore and towards Australia to conduct drills with the Australian navy.

Marvel Confirms That Avengers 4 is The End Of An Era

Marvel is making it official: 2019's Avengers 4 will be the end of an era for the MCU.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe's signature thus far has been distinct Phases for its superhero blockbusters, designed to build up to the events of The Avengers, Age of Ultron and Avengers 4 respectively.
However, Marvel creative boss Kevin Feige recently dropped the bombshell that his studio will potentially ditch "Phase 4" entirely in favour of a "a new thing".
"We're not actively discussing anything past untitled Avengers, other than we've dated Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 — which, that would not be the title but that's what we would call it — because that's the agreement we made with Sony for the inclusion of Spidey in the Avengers films, and James Gunn doing a third Guardians of the Galaxy at some point.
"But really the whole focus of Marvel Studios is, counting Guardians 2, the next eight films that are gonna take up all of our time.
Feige added: "We have an idea [of what the Marvel Cinematic Universe looks like post-Avengers 4], and it's gonna be very, very different."

Secret Room Holds 'Lost' Michelangelo Artwork

In 1975, Paolo Dal Poggetto, then director of the Medici Chapels museum in Florence, stumbled upon a Renaissance treasure - a trapdoor hidden beneath a wardrobe near the New Sacristy, a chamber designed to house the ornate tombs of Medici rulers. Below the trapdoor, stone steps led to an oblong room filled with coal that at first appeared to be little more than storage space.
But on the walls, Dal Poggetto and his colleagues found what they believe are charcoal and chalk drawings from the hand of famed artist Michelangelo. While the room is closed to the public to protect the artwork, National Geographic photographer Paolo Woods was recently granted rare access to capture its remarkable contents.

More Than 10,000 Windows Computers May Be Infected By Advanced NSA Backdoor

Security experts believe that tens of thousands of Windows computers may have been infected by a highly advanced National Security Agency backdoor. The NSA backdoor was included in last week's leak by the mysterious group known as Shadow Brokers.
DoublePulsar, as the NSA implant is code-named, was detected on more than 107,000 computers in one Internet scan. That scan was performed over the past few days by researchers from Binary Edge, a security firm headquartered in Switzerland. Binary Edge has more here. Separate mass scans, one done by Errata Security CEO Rob Graham and another by researchers from Below0day, detected roughly 41,000 and 30,000 infected machines, respectively.
To remain stealthy, DoublePulsar doesn't write any files to the computers it infects. This design prevents it from persisting after an infected machine is rebooted. The lack of persistence may be one explanation for the widely differing results.

US Government In Danger of Shutdown, Trump says, "We're in Good Shape."

The US Government is in danger of shutting down by the end of the month if Congress doesn't "raise the debt limit."
This came up a few times during Obama's presidency and each time Republicans preferred shutting down the Government over raising the debt limit.
It is not clear how the current negotiations will go, conservatives balk at raising the debt limit, while Democrats have no incentive to cooperate with Trump.
President Trump on Friday downplayed prospects of a government shutdown next week, with a deadline looming to conclude weeks of negotiations between Republican leaders and Democrats in Congress to pass a stopgap spending bill.
"I think we're in good shape," Trump said in response to a question from a reporter in the Oval Office as he greeted Aya Hijazi, an Egyptian American charity worker who was released from a Cairo prison after Trump intervened in her case with Egypt's leader.
Trump's comments came a day after White House budget director Mick Mulvaney said he hopes to use negotiations to keep the government open past April 28 to force Democrats to back some funding for creating a new wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as other Trump priorities.

Model 'Elisa De Panicis' Claims Christiano Ronaldo Uses Padding to 'Make His Package Look Bigger'

Cristiano Ronaldo uses padding to make his package look bigger, a woman who holidayed with him in Ibiza ahead of Euro 2016 has reportedly claimed.
The Real Madrid star is never afraid to show off what God gave him – habitually removing his shirt to celebrate important goals and even stripping off to model his own underwear brand.
But Elisa De Panicis, a self-styled 'actress, singer, model and dancer', claims Ronaldo fakes the size of his package in advertising campaigns by padding out his pants.
The pair met up in Ibiza ahead of Euro 2016 last summer, where Ronaldo enjoyed some time off after leading Real Madrid to the Champions League title in May.

Emotion Batra Opens Up On The 'Longest 15 Minutes Of His Life'

Marc Bartra says pride is his overwhelming emotion four days on from the bomb attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus that caused him to suffer the longest 15 minutes of his life.

Bartra suffered a wrist injury in the incident that saw three explosions go off near the vehicle as it made its way to Signal Iduna Park prior to the Champions League quarter-final, first leg against Monaco.

He wrote in an Instagram post: "Today I've received again a visit that makes me the happiest. They are my everything, the reason I fight to overcome every roadblock, and this has been the hardest of my life. I do not wish this on anyone. The pain, the fear, not knowing what was happening or how long it would last... It was the longest 15 minutes of my life. I want to say that the shock is wearing off every day and is replaced by the will to live, to fight, to work, to laugh, to cry, to feel, to love, to believe, to play, to train, to enjoy my people, my loved ones, team-mates, my passion, to defend, to smell the grass before a game, like I usually do to motivate me before a game. To see the stands filled with people who love this sport, good people who only want us to feel the emotion of football to forget about the world, especially the world we live in which is crazier than ever. The only thing I ask, THE ONLY THING, is that we ALL live in peace and leave wars behind."

China: Military force won't halt North Korea threat

Military force cannot resolve tension over North Korea, China said on Thursday, while an influential Chinese newspaper urged the North to halt its nuclear programme in exchange for Chinese protection.

With a US aircraft carrier group steaming to the area and tension rising, South Korea said it believed the United States would consult it before any preemptive strike against the North.

Fears have been growing that the reclusive North could soon conduct its sixth nuclear test or more missile launches in defiance of UN sanctions and stark warnings from the United States that a policy of patience was over.

Explosion Hits Borussia Dortmund Team Bus

The damaged bus of Borussia Dortmund is pictured after an explosion some 10km away from the stadium prior to the UEFA Champions League 1st leg quarter-final football match BVB Borussia Dortmund v Monaco in Dortmund, western Germany on April 11, 2017. Carsten LINHOFF / dpa / AFP
Three explosions went off near the Borussia Dortmund bus, injuring Spanish international defender Marc Bartra, as the German team headed for a Champions League game against Monaco on Tuesday, police said.
Bartra was taken to hospital and the quarter-final first-leg match was postponed until Wednesday because of the attack.
The bus had set off from the team hotel for the Borussia stadium about 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) away when “three explosive charges detonated,” said a police spokesman, Gunnar Wortmann.
The bus windows were shattered and one person inside the vehicle was wounded, added the spokesman, without adding details.
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said Bartra, 26, suffered a hand injury and was being treated in hospital.
The announcement that the game was postponed until Wednesday was only made to the stunned stadium about 15 minutes before the game started.
UEFA confirmed the match will now be played on Wednesday at 18:45 local time (16:45 GMT).
Dortmund relayed a copy of its Twitter announcement of the explosions inside the stadium to inform fans of events.
Germany has been on a high alert since last December’s attack in Berlin, when a Tunisian national hijacked a truck and rammed it into a crowd, killing 12 people.
